I hope you all are having a fabulous Valentine's Day! My day is certainly starting out fantastic!
My Valentine's Day actually started Tuesday night. My daughter Stephanie came over for dinner and brought Darryl and I a "parents" Valentine's card and a plateful of assorted homemade cookies. There were chocolate chip, M&M cookies and rolled out sugar cookies cut out in heart shapes and frosted in pink. Unfortunately, the cookies disappeared before I could take a picture of them:))
Thursday night was my next surprise when hubby and I came home. I walked upstairs first. Darryl had a dozen beautiful roses in a vase on the dining room table along with not one, but TWO cards sitting there waiting for me. I trimmed down the flowers and arranged them in the vase, but I was not "allowed" to open the cards until Valentine's Day - what a tease:))
If you could see the cute little grin on Darryl's face when I saw the roses and the cards on the table. He was so proud of himself to surprise me a little early:))
If I wasn't already the luckiest girl on the face of the planet to be married to my wonderful hubby...get a dozen roses early and have cards already on the table ready for me for Saturday...have homemade cookies from my daughter Stephanie and her friend Christina...BUT THEN Friday night rolls around and what do you think I find? ...
More flowers....
This time, the flowers are from my son, Cody. What a sweetie! I am so unbelievably blessed with such a wonderful family!
Well, now that today is officially Valentine's Day I had more treats in store. I woke up to my hubby serving me breakfast in bed. Yes...I said breakfast in bed. It was fabulous! He also did the horses for me this morning - cleaning their stalls and prepping them for tonight, feeding them their grain and then putting them out in the paddock for the day with their hay. We are also going out tonight for dinner and possibly a movie.
I should probably show you the card that I made for my honey too.
I wanted to create a card that was a little more masculine and didn't scream Valentine colors so I used mostly Kraft cardstock. The "Happy Valentine's Day" banner on the card is a little wavy and sticks out from the card creating a 3-D look. I also added some dimensionals behind the red square panel and behind the heart for even more depth and dimension.
This shot shows the texture on my cardstock that I created using my Texturz Plates and my Big Shot. I like the extra depth that the texture creates.
For an added embellishment, I layered two buttons together, threaded some linen thread through them and tied a bow in the back before attaching it with a mini glue dot.
So here are the Stampin' Up! supplies that I used on the card:
Stamp Set: A Happy Heart
Cardstock: Kraft, Whisper White, Riding Hood Red, Riding Hood Red Designer Prints Paper
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Chip Marker
Accessories: Texturz Plates, Big Shot, Buttons, Linen Thread, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals and a sponge
I sponged around the edges of the Kraft cardstock card base and banner. I also sponged around the Riding Hood Red square panel. Faux stitching using a Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker added a little more detail to the layers.
I stamped the heart shape on Whisper White Cardstock and cut it out using Paper Snips. Dimensionals are attached to the back of the red square panel and also to the back of the cut out heart.
I attached the banner to create a little "wave" instead of attaching it flat against my card. Linen thread attached to buttons finish off the card quite nicely.
I hope you enjoyed my Valentine's Day sharing. I wish you and yours a very special Valentine's Day too! Please leave a comment and share what you did for Valentine's Day.
Thanks for stopping by,
Lynn Larson
