Soul Scrappers - Technique Challenge "Presto"

As many of you already know, I am one of the Design Team members over at Soul Scrappers.  This week I have a technique challenge for you to try that runs from today, Sept. 23rd through Oct. 6th at 7 pm.  It is called "Presto" and uses Stampin' Up!'s Presto Patterns Specialty papers.

 

This is actually a page that we created at Summer Stamp Fest in New Jersey with my upline, Tina Rosenkrans.  I just love this page and thought the technique would be a fun one for this challenge.

 

The photo above really shows off the technique nicely.  The white image is the embossing that is already on the Presto Patterns Specialty paper.  You can certainly create the same type of look by embossing your own cardstock if you don't have any of the Presto Patterns Specialty paper on hand.  I like having pre-embossed paper handy to create fast accents like this though!

 

This photo shows a close up of the accents on the page.   I just love the vintage feel of the page and think it would look fabulous once photos, photo mats and journaling are added.

Scrapbooking the History of Wardsboro, VT

Last week I had the honor of instructing a group of elementary school kids in making a scrapbook of the history of our town.

This was a three day course for the kids.  They learned how to use a camera and take photos before going out and taking photos of the historic buildings in our town.  They interviewed some of the townspeople and did some research on the buildings before we worked on the scrapbooking.

On the third day, the kids were there with the printed out pictures and their notes.  I showed them some tips on scrapbooking and helped them create their layouts and do their journaling.

We actually finished up our scrapbook early and had some time leftover to make some mini albums for the kids to take home with them.  We used the photocopy machine at the school to make up some more prints of photos so the kids could cut them out and use them in their books.

 

We really had a fun day scrapbooking.  I was impressed by how much the boys enjoyed working on this project!

Digital Scrapbooking - Dreams, Wishes and Goals

This is a scrapbook page that I created to list my dreams, wishes and goals.  This page is mostly journaling with a photo in the background with a low opacity setting. 

Sometimes it is nice to just scrapbook your thoughts, your dreams, goals or wishes.  This page is a little bit about me and what I am hoping to get out of life.  It is a great way to share with my friends and family the things that are important to me.

This page is another one that I created using Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio program.  It is so easy to use, so fun and so fast.  You can put an entire scrapbook together in no time at all.  Contact me if you would like to find out more about My Digital Studio!

A Tribute to My Daughter - Digital Scrapbooking

In honor of my daughter's 21st birthday today, I thought I would share a very special scrapbook page I made a few weeks back for her. 

I have mentioned before that I really didn't know if I would ever really get into digital scrapbooking.  I have to say that I use "My Digital Studio" from Stampin' Up! almost all the time when I am scrapbooking now.  I love how the photos and all the scrapbooking supplies are right at your fingertips!

This is a page that I made using a variety of photos taken at different times and added a song as my journaling.  I remember when I first heard this song, I instantly thought of Stephanie.  It is every parent's dream for their children. 

So, at 21 Stephanie "I Hope you Dance"...  I love you and Happy Birthday!

Technique Challenge - Fun with Ink

Today I posted a new Technique Challenge over at Soul Scrappers called "Fun with Ink".  I have shared three different fun and easy ways to use ink on your scrapbook pages but you can also use these techniques on any of your other papercrafting projects.

Technique Challenge - Faux Metal

Today I am sharing with you a Technique Challenge that I am doing over at Soul Scrappers this week.  I am featuring a technique called - Faux Metal.  This is one of my favorite ways to create a handmade embellishment for my pages.

This is what a close-up of my embellishment looks like for this challenge.  I chose to use gold, instead of the typical silver, to create my accent.

 

This is my left hand page which features the focal point of my layout.  I wanted to showcase the green and gold frame used in our photo as the color theme for my layout.

 

This is my completed page featuring my gold faux metal accent.

This is a very easy technique that is done with Versamark and Glassy Glaze Embossing Powder.  You can check out the challenge and my instructions for the technique over at Soul Scrappers.  If you play along, be sure to tag your photos with "TC4" so we can showcase all of the samples in the gallery set aside for this challenge!

Digital Scrapbook - Likes and Dislikes

Today I am sharing a page that I created as part of a design team that I am on.

This page represents 50 things that I like and 50 things that I dislike.  This ended up being a fun page to create because I am able to leave a little legacy for my kids and "someday" grandkids letting them know what I stand for and believe in.  

I created this page using My Digital Studio because I have been on a roll scrapbooking with that program lately.  I really enjoyed doing this project this way because I could pull pieces from existing pictures on my computer to show some of the things that I like to add color and interest to my page.  The background of my "likes" side is actually a photo that I took and then made it slightly opaque so you could not only see the words describing my "likes", but also get a feel for the things that I enjoy most in life.  The right side of the page shows the things that I dislike.  I purposely didn't put pictures on this side of the page or make it colorful.  I wanted people's eyes to be drawn to my likes which are the more fun things.

I hope you enjoy my project today.  It was a really special one for me to create.  There was a lot of time and though put into what I wanted to do and I really like the way it turned out.

Digital - Wells Beach, Maine

Friday mornings I hold a weekly scrapbooking crop at my house.  This morning I was working on more digital scrapbooking pages.  The first one I created was for a special Design Team that I am on for the Soulology Project with Erika Martin.  That one is a for members of the online class only so I won't be sharing that creation with you today.  I will, however, be sharing another page that I made today that I had already started on my computer when I first started "playing" around with digital crafting software.  I added some background and some embellishments to finish off the page so I could share it with you.

These pictures were taken in Wells Beach, Maine in November of last year.  We had some crazy warm weather and decided to take a "quick overnight trip" to the beach.  It was so beautiful that day.  As you can see the skies were so blue and hardly a cloud to be found.

This page uses "My Digital Studio" software from Stampin' Up! for the entire page.  I am planning on printing out some pages to put together an album.  I am also working on a hard-cover book that will be printed out as a surprise gift for someone very special to me...no hints just yet.

Digital Scrapbooking - Always and Forever

I cannot scrapbook about me without including my hubby.  This page talks about how much he means to me and how he completes me.  Without him, I would be a different person (probably with more sanity though...LOL).

The photo used here was one from our trip to Hawaii with Stampin' Up! last year.  We were heading out the door for dinner at the Chinese restaurant at the resort and took this photo together.

I cannot believe how much fun I am having using My Digital Studio to create my scrapbook pages.  It is really a blast and very user friendly!

I am a Member of the Soul Scrappers Design Team!

I am so very excited to be one of the members of design team for Soul Scrappers.  If you haven't heard, Soul Scrappers is a new scrapbooking community that was started only about two weeks ago now. 

If you haven't checked it out already, you should go take a peak.  There are over 300 scrapbook samples on the site as well as many challenges to motivate you in your scrapbooking.  I did my first technique challenge on Thursday called Baby Wipe Swipe.  There are many other challenges happening as well for digital as well as traditional scrapping.
