I have another batch of crocheted cowls, scarves, neck warmers and fingerless gloves ready to ship out again this week.  I had a batch of black ones that I made - 8 in total.  I still have two chocolate cowls, a kiwi green cowl, four sets of scarves with matching fingerless gloves, a separate pair of fingerless gloves and a little girl's flower headband to make over the next 10 days.

Thank you so very much for all your orders.  I have been crocheting my little heart out these days and I have been loving it.  I hope that the recipients love them! 

I will continue to take any orders for custom pieces throughout the winter.  I will not be able to get any more orders made in time for Christmas though.  The orders that I have to still complete will continued to keep me a busy little elf:))

Fabric and Needle Felting with the Big Shot

I am so excited to share today's project with you.  I have had this idea for a couple of weeks now but had to gather the right supplies before I could actually sit down and make one to share. 

The rage in the crafting world - at least with Stampin' Up! is creating fabric projects using the Big Shot.  For those of you who know me and have seen my work (or attended a craft fair I was at) know that I have been using fabric with my Big Shot for many months now.  I have put a totally different spin on creating with fabric with this really neat sunflower pincushion.

 

This pincushion is different because I used needle felting to attach my flower and leaf on to the fabric.  For those of you who are not familiar with needle felting, you use a barred needle to push the fibers of the felt into the fabric of the pincushion so there is no sewing needed to attach the layers of this project.

Here is a side view that shows the fabrics all attached together.

RECENTLY ADDED:  A little more about needle felting...it is when you use a barred needle and poke two pieces of wool together.  I used a wool background and then wool felt for my flower and my leaf.  I started by laying the leaf on the background and then poking it with the special needle felting needle. It makes the fibers of the wool felt grab on to the fibers of the wool background creating its own woven bond.  There is no need to add glue, the fibers intertwine like fingers holding on to each other.  The flower almost becomes a part of the fabric underneath and doesn't look like a separate piece laying on top of the fabric as a typical applique would appear.  This is a popular craft among people who work with dyed wool from sheep (roving) or felted wool.  Hope this helps you understand the process a little better.

Punch Art Frame

Today I hosted a holiday party for my Stampin' Up! downline.  We have a pot luck dinner, a Yankee Swap and a small, individual gift that we make for each person attending.  Today I made a ham and the girls brought things like scalloped potatoes, green beans, fruit salad, brown and serve rolls along with pumpkin and apple pies for dessert.  De-lish!!

For our Yankee Swap, we each bring one handcrafted, wrapped gift (valued at approximately $10).  I assign each package a number and then we draw numbers from a basket to see which gift we are lucky enough to take home with us.

How cute is this punch art altered frame?  The frame is a pretty good size - approximately 7" square with the hole for the picture about 3.5" square and is made from wood.  The wood was unfinished so I painted it twice using white acrylic paint and let it dry before embellishing it.

The background uses Bashful Blue cardstock for the sky and Whisper White cardstock for the snow.  I tore strips of Whisper White cardstock to make the snow look uneven and like there were hills.  Sponging the edge of the torn cardstock in Bordering Blue ink added some dimension and depth to my "snow hills".

As you can see in the photo, I made the blue cardstock more modulated and uneven looking by sponging on and also spritzing on some Ballet Blue ink.  I also added a little blush to my little guy's cheeks by patting my finder into some Pretty in Pink ink and dabbing the ink onto his face.  

The snowflakes are from the Serene Snowflakes stamp set (my favorite snowflake stamp set of all time!) and white craft ink.  Once the snowflakes were stamped, I added some Winter White Embossing Powder and heated them up to make them stand out a little more.  Faux stitching done with white gel pen around the inside frame window and the outer border completed the look of my frame. 

Each of the elements on the frame were inspired by different projects I have seen.  The kid with the snowball was an idea that I got from Jackie T (I don't remember her last name....sorry!).  She also had the cool idea for the faux snow that is made from rolling up a scrap of white cardstock so it is thin like a pencil and then grating it on a cheese grater to create your own snow.  I added some glue to my project, sprinkled on the faux snow and then added a touch of Dazzling Diamonds glitter to finish it off.

Wilmington Antique and Flea Market - Stop on by...

I was at the Wilmington Antique and Flea Market again today and plan on being there again tomorrow (Sunday).  If you are in the neighborhood, stop on by to see me.  I am on the left, by the fence, as soon as you pull in the driveway.  I am the 3rd booth in from the driveway.

I had a very good day today despite all the wind and the sprinkles in the afternoon.  I finally put up the sides of my tent around 1 pm which helped a lot.  I really don't like being so confined inside a tent, but today it was necessary.  Of course, I had to scrample to rearrange everything since I had all my tables and displays facing outside when I didn't have the sides on.  I had to turn the tables and everything around and redisplay some items but it worked out just fine.  I think that I will just leave the sides on for tomorrow (just in case) so there is no scrambling throughout the day. 

Everyone LOVED the little gloves and mittens that I brought today.  I sold so many of them that I had to come home and make some more tonight.  The little red and blue glove sets that I showed you yesterday were two of the first to go.  I had some flower sets and a butterfly set sell today as well.  It was really fun to watch the kids' faces light up when they saw the gloves and mittens and try to decide which pair they wanted!  I really wish I had my camera!!

Here is the pair that was the real eye catcher today.  Little girls were running up toward the booth to take a look!

Can you say "Too Stinkin' Cute"?...

Check out this project that I have been working on this week!

Aren't these just "too stinkin' cute"?  These little mittens, along with a variety of other styles, will be traveling with me to my craft fairs the next couple of weeks. 

I have a couple made up in glove styles as well.  I could almost wish my kids were little again so they could wear these adorable little items:))

Build a Bear Baby Bib

I have been on a roll lately playing around with my Sizzix dies - especially the Build A Bear dies.  Today I would like to share another project that I have had planned (in my head) for some time now.

Build a Bear Dress Me Up Tin

I have been wanting to play around with this idea for awhile now and finally got around to it.  I wanted to make up some Dress Up Kits using some metal DVD tins that I have had sitting around my stamp room for some time now.  When the Stampin' Up! / Sizzix Build a Bear line came out, I knew this was exactly what I was going to do with all those tins!

This is the cover of my tin.  The bear shown here is actually adhered to the front of the tin and is all dressed up already.  When you open the tin....

 

...this is what you find inside!   On the left is my magnetized, undressed bear and on the right are her clothes that you can dress her up in.  All the pieces were attached to magnet sheets so they can be layered on top of each other to dress up the bear.

Soft, Cashmere Type Scarves

As many of you know, I spend a lot of time doing craft shows and events where I have a bunch of my handcrafted items for sale.  This is one of my newest additions to my booth last week.

 

This scarf has a cashmere feel to it and didn't have any fringe.  I wanted to dress it up a little so I used some fabric and my Big Shot to create some accents for my scarves.  This creation uses a faux croc type of fabric.  I just love the sheen and the classiness of this project using that fabric!

The scarves are 100% acrylic and are washable!  They make great gifts for the holidays or to keep for yourself.  If you are interested in purchasing one of these scarves, you can either visit me at my booth at the following locations:

Wedding Save the Date Cards

Many of you have asked me about my "Save the Date" cards that I have been making for a client of mine so I thought I would share the finished product with you here.

 

Wendy's colors are black, white and silver for her New Year's Eve wedding.  She liked the scroll design for her cards so this is what we decided upon.  Simple, yet elegant.

 

I made a total of 75 Save the Date cards for Wendy.  I will be working on her wedding invitations next.  I have been having so much fun working on this project with Wendy.  She is just a hoot:))

Bella Rose Altered 3D Photo Frame

I love altering different items for gifts or for decorations around my house.  One of my favorite things to alter are frames.  I love putting them around my house to fit the theme of the season or for the decor in my room.  I have made many of them for gifts for different occasions like baby and wedding showers.

This frame is one of my favorites.  It uses the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up!

 

I added a scalloped accent with some buttons to finish the frame off simply and cleanly.
