Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you and your family have a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving day today.  I thought I would share a photo of my apple pie creation I made last night.

 

The "crafty person" that I am wanted to do something fun with my pie this year.  I made a faux-lattice pie and my own maple leaf crust edge.  This is a photo of the pie before it was baked to show the detail.

 

Aren't the maple leaves cute?

 

Here is the edge of the baked pie.  A little hard to see with the cinnamon sprinkled on top. 

 

All baked and ready to eat.  Very rustic looking - I love it.  Next time, I will need to not sprinkle the top with cinnamon so it won't look so dark in the photos and you can see the detail a little better.  I can't wait to try it later!

Well, don't eat too much today (yeah, right...is that possible?)...

Thanksgiving is a day to reflect upon what you are thankful for.  I am certainly thankful for my family - my wonderful husband and kids, my mom, my brothers and sisters, neices and nephews (my in-law portion is also included here as well). 

I am also thankful for the two little "critter" additions to our family - our little rescue dog, Harley and our stray kitten Oliver who will be spending their first Thanksgiving with us this year.  They bring such joy into our lives too.

Happy Labor Day Weekend & Garlic Festival, Bennington, VT

I hope you are all enjoying your Labor Day weekend!  It was a great day to be outside.  A little windy from what is left of Hurricane Earl, but a nicer weekend than everyone first thought it would be.

I spent the day with my hubby.  We went over to the Garlic Festival in Bennington, VT which is about 45 minutes away from us.  We got there early and did lots of tasting at the vendor booths.  There were things like garlic pickles, garlic dips, pickled garlic, garlic fudge, homemade breads, whole wheat garlic pockets, garlic nuggets, garlic jellies, garlic chocolate chip cookies and different varieties of pestos.

 

For garlic items, we bought some German White Garlic to grow in our garlic (and to cook with), some Garlic Pepper Jelly (yummy), organic dried garlic and some traditional pesto.  I always purchase some homemade soaps and lotions while there too.  I love the Oatmeal Almond soap and this time I also tried some Coconut soap along with some Almond Shea Butter Lotion and Almond Salt Scrub. 

I really love homemade items and this is the place to go to get them.  The prices are great and the quality of the items is even better.  LOVE going and glad we made it again this year. 

While we were out that far, we stopped at a couple little shops in the area we have been wanting to stop at that are just over the border in New York.  We had lunch at the Great Moose in Hoosick, NY.  Pulled pork, coleslaw with green tea to drink and then ice cream for dessert.  I even found some great crafting ideas while browsing around!

Great day, now back to reality.  I need to get some housework and laundry done:))

Heading off to a crafting weekend at Tina's Cabin in NY

A group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators and I are driving up to our upline, Tina's cabin in New York this weekend.  We got invitated to spend the weekend crafting while she waits on us hand and food - cooking, cleaning up, etc.  It is so much fun!  I was lucky enough to have been to her cabin before. 

I will be sharing some photos of the weekend with you here so stay tuned.  We are going to have a blast and I can't wait to share it with you!

Digital Scrapbook - Likes and Dislikes

Today I am sharing a page that I created as part of a design team that I am on.

This page represents 50 things that I like and 50 things that I dislike.  This ended up being a fun page to create because I am able to leave a little legacy for my kids and "someday" grandkids letting them know what I stand for and believe in.  

I created this page using My Digital Studio because I have been on a roll scrapbooking with that program lately.  I really enjoyed doing this project this way because I could pull pieces from existing pictures on my computer to show some of the things that I like to add color and interest to my page.  The background of my "likes" side is actually a photo that I took and then made it slightly opaque so you could not only see the words describing my "likes", but also get a feel for the things that I enjoy most in life.  The right side of the page shows the things that I dislike.  I purposely didn't put pictures on this side of the page or make it colorful.  I wanted people's eyes to be drawn to my likes which are the more fun things.

I hope you enjoy my project today.  It was a really special one for me to create.  There was a lot of time and though put into what I wanted to do and I really like the way it turned out.

Digital - Wells Beach, Maine

Friday mornings I hold a weekly scrapbooking crop at my house.  This morning I was working on more digital scrapbooking pages.  The first one I created was for a special Design Team that I am on for the Soulology Project with Erika Martin.  That one is a for members of the online class only so I won't be sharing that creation with you today.  I will, however, be sharing another page that I made today that I had already started on my computer when I first started "playing" around with digital crafting software.  I added some background and some embellishments to finish off the page so I could share it with you.

These pictures were taken in Wells Beach, Maine in November of last year.  We had some crazy warm weather and decided to take a "quick overnight trip" to the beach.  It was so beautiful that day.  As you can see the skies were so blue and hardly a cloud to be found.

This page uses "My Digital Studio" software from Stampin' Up! for the entire page.  I am planning on printing out some pages to put together an album.  I am also working on a hard-cover book that will be printed out as a surprise gift for someone very special to me...no hints just yet.

Digital Scrapbooking - Always and Forever

I cannot scrapbook about me without including my hubby.  This page talks about how much he means to me and how he completes me.  Without him, I would be a different person (probably with more sanity though...LOL).

The photo used here was one from our trip to Hawaii with Stampin' Up! last year.  We were heading out the door for dinner at the Chinese restaurant at the resort and took this photo together.

I cannot believe how much fun I am having using My Digital Studio to create my scrapbook pages.  It is really a blast and very user friendly!

I am a Member of the Soul Scrappers Design Team!

I am so very excited to be one of the members of design team for Soul Scrappers.  If you haven't heard, Soul Scrappers is a new scrapbooking community that was started only about two weeks ago now. 

If you haven't checked it out already, you should go take a peak.  There are over 300 scrapbook samples on the site as well as many challenges to motivate you in your scrapbooking.  I did my first technique challenge on Thursday called Baby Wipe Swipe.  There are many other challenges happening as well for digital as well as traditional scrapping.

Digital Scrapbooking - It's Good to Dream

I am loving scrapbooking with My Digital Studio.  I cannot get enough of it!  I have been sharing a little piece of myself in my recent scrapbook pages.  Since I don't typically print many pictures of myself digital scrapbooking has been a great way to incoporate the pictures on my computer into a scrapbook layout with minimal effort on my part.  My Digital Studio uses colors, stamps and embellishments from Stampin' Up! and are right on my computer so scrapbooking can be done anywhere I take my laptop.  It is really awesome having it be so portable.  I can work on it any time and not have a mess to clean up when I am done!

Today's page is about dreaming and what you are hoping comes true.  A lot of my dreams have already come true in my life, but I don't stop hoping for things like a cure for cancer or the happiness of my children.

Now I mentioned not having many pictures of myself and that I also don't print many of them off.  this photo was taken last year in Hawaii while on the Stampin' Up! incentive trip.  My husband was taking candid shots of me.  This is one where I was looking down at my hand and itching it because I had the hives - I think from the volcano ash.  So while it looks like I might be in deep thought, I was actually in "itching mode":))  There is something to be said about the power of cropping and journaling!

Digital Scrapbooking - If I Live to Be 100...

Another scrapbooking challenge over on Soul Scrappers this week is one to use these heartfelt words from none other than Winnie the Pooh:  "If I live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus one day so I never have to live without you."

 

I love Winnie-the-Pooh almost as much as I love my husband, Darryl.  This is a very inspirational quote and says so much about our relationship and the way we feel about each other.

A Few of My Favorite Things...

Today was my weekly scrapbooking crop that I host at my house.  My goal today was to create an "About Me" page for a Digital Scrapbooking challenge over at Soul Scrappers.  I am not used to scrapbooking about myself since I am usually the one on the other side of the camera and not in many pictures.  It was a little hard for me to create an "About Me" page.

I used My Digital Studio by Stampin' Up! to create my digital page.  It is so very easy to use.  The background is Certainly Celery small polka dot background.  I added the embellishments of Old Olive buttons and Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon.  The words in the upper left corner were created by a digital stamp set.

Why not scrapbook some things about yourself to leave behind for future generations?  Give digital scrapbooking a try while you are at it.  The supplies are all right there for you to use on your page.  It is really awesome!
