My hubby and I decided to take some time off Sunday and spend some quiet time together with no phones and get away from the responsibilities at home for a few hours. We did this as a spur of the moment thing after we had our weekly Sunday Pancake Breakfast where we always invite people over for breakfast and get together and chat. We were also having company for Sunday dinner that same day so we decided to sneak away for a couple of hours by ourselves and do something. Of course, we didn't have time to go very far, so we decided to drive around and look at the beauty in our own area. We drove over to Wilmington (Vermont) and stopped by both Harriman Lake and Lake Raponda. The leaves aren't changed quite as much as they are here at our house, but it was still a beautiful afternoon trip.
This was our first stop. A pull off area that had picnic tables and a stone stairway down to a very small beach overlooking beautiful Lake Harriman. I loved this shot because the sun is hitting the water making it sparkle like diamonds. The leaves here are just changing so in another week or so, they will be at peak and this would be a breathtaking shot.
This photo was taking at the boat launch area at Harriman Lake. The clouds overhead tone down the photo a little, but I love the silhouette of the dock with the crispness of the water and the hint of color in the mountains in the background.
This shot is from the same pull off area as the first photo. We walked back up the stone steps from the beach and back to our car. As we were pulling away I asked Darryl to stop one minute and I got out and took this shot. I like that the lake lights up the background behind the trees and picnic table. I think we will come back when he leaves are in full "bloom" with a picnic lunch and hang out to really admire the beauty for awhile:))
This is Lake Raponda. It is another beautiful area that is close to home and not visited by us as much as we should. How blessed are we to have such beauty within a short drive of our home?
This sign really sums life up doesn't it? "Someday". How often do we say "someday, I will..."? This is a sign from a golf course that is off a back road near Mount Snow Ski Area in the town next to ours. "Someday" they will finish the golf course and make it as it was intended to be... "Someday" we will appreciate the beauty that surrounds us and take the time to appreciate it.
I hope you found some peace in these photos as well. It is so important to take a minute out of our busy lives and appreciate some of the beauty around us instead of waiting for "someday". We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful area, but we too often just drive by on a mission and take what our beautiful state has to offer for granted.
Now off to do some more appreciating of something I love - stamping. It is time to create some more fabulous projects and holiday gifts that will bring joy to others this holiday season. What things to do you appreciate but take for granted? Leave me a comment.
