How would you like to learn to make this adorable double pocket card? Double pocket you say....well, you will have to see the inside to know what I am talking about.
So, here it is...
I started off by taking a sheet of Summer Picnic Designer Series Paper. Cut the sheet down to an 8 1
/2" x 8 1/2" square.
Pick the side of the Designer Series Paper that you would like on the front of your card and keep that side of the paper facing up.
You will then fold the paper in half vertically...
...next you will fold the paper in half horizontally...
For the best creases in your paper, you should fold the paper one way, unfold it and then fold it the other way. I used a bone folder to make nice, crisp folds in my paper.
The next step is to
cut from the outside center of your paper to the center using your paper snips. You only want this one cut in your and the other parts remain as creases. You should position the paper so that the cut portion is on the left.
Once that is done, you are ready to start creating your pockets. To
make your first pocket, fold the bottom right corner up toward the center of your square. Be sure to position the paper slightly away from your score lines so that your card will fold nicely when assembled.
To create the second pocket, fold down the top left corner of your paper down being sure to not go down as far as your first corner as shown in the picture.
Now the magic begins. It is time to start to assemble
your card. To start, you are going to fold the left top corner over on top of the right top corner.
Next, you will fold up the bottom right corner up on top of the top right corner. Now you can see the double pocket
s on the inside of your card starting to form - pretty cool, huh?
To help accentuate the pockets, I have added a strip of Designer Series Paper to the top of the bottom pocket. It brings out the colors from the top corner of the card and adds some depth and interest to the pockets.
I used some sticky strip to hold the left and right sides of the pockets together. Be sure to use it only on the edges so that the inserts slide nicely into the pockets.
To finish off the card, add
some tabbed tags inside the pockets and perhaps accentuate the inside of your card with some words or some other embellishments.
For the oranges on this card, I used the Rock 'n Roll Technique. I did this by inking up the entire orange in So Saffron ink and then rolling the outside edge of the orange in Pumpkin Pie ink to make it have two colors and give it some interest.
I really like the way this card turned out. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love square cards. This card is a great 4 1/4" square card that can be used for gift certificates, cash, photos, or even used on a scrapbook page with some journaling and a photo in the inside pockets.
I would love to see your creations when you try this fun technique. Please feel free to send them to me and I will post them on my blog.
Happy stamping!
Lynn

Great card! Do you know - Does it cost extra to mail a 4.5 x 4.5 square card then a regular card?
